Sugar Defender Formula: The Blend, Line by Line
The Sugar Defender formula is chromium (0.7 mcg) plus a 200 mg proprietary herbal blend of 22 ingredients, per 1 mL serving. The label lists the blend from most to least by weight but hides each amount. That order lets us work out the most each line could hold.

What is in the Sugar Defender formula?
The formula has two parts: one chromium line with a printed amount, and a 200 mg herbal blend with none.
Chromium (as chromium picolinate) is listed at 0.7 mcg, which is 2% of the Daily Value. The blend has 22 ingredients, from maca root at the top to L-carnitine at the bottom.
Under "Other ingredients" the label adds deionized water, organic citrus extract, natural flavors, stevia and xylitol.
Why does the order of the blend matter?
The order is the only clue to size. US rules let a blend list its total weight and its parts in descending order, without each amount (21 CFR 101.36 (eCFR)).
That means the ingredient in place k holds at most 200 divided by k mg. The first twelve lines look like this.
| Place | Ingredient | At most (mg) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Maca root | 200 |
| 2 | Grape seed | 100 |
| 3 | Guarana seed | about 67 |
| 4 | African mango fruit extract | 50 |
| 5 | Eleuthero root | 40 |
| 6 | Astragalus root | about 33 |
| 7 | Green tea leaf | about 29 |
| 8 | Gymnema leaf | 25 |
| 9 | Coleus forskohlii root | about 22 |
| 10 | Capsicum fruit | 20 |
| 11 | Grapefruit seed extract | about 18 |
| 12 | Panax ginseng root extract | about 17 |
These are ceilings, since the first lines take part of the 200 mg and leave less for the rest. An even split gives about 9 mg each.
The last ten lines, from raspberry ketones to L-carnitine, are amino acids, a licorice compound and other small players. Each can hold less than 17 mg. Studies of carnitine used grams, not milligrams, so the final line is tiny next to its research (NIH ODS, Carnitine).
How do the ceilings compare with studied doses?
Most ceilings sit well below the amounts used in studies, and the top lines are the main open question.
Gymnema trials used 200 to 400 mg of extract, against a ceiling of 25 mg (Drugs.com, Gymnema monograph). Ginseng trials ran from about 100 mg a day upward, against a ceiling of about 17 mg (Shishtar et al., PLoS One 2014). Chromium trials used 200 to 1,000 mcg, against 0.7 mcg printed.
The formula may still be taken for habit or taste. It should not be taken for a dose you cannot confirm.
A useful habit is to write the ceiling next to each ingredient you care about. If a sales line says an ingredient "Supports Healthy Blood Glucose", compare it with the table above. A claim built on 17 mg is not the same as one built on a full trial dose.
Where is each line on the Supplement Facts panel?
Seven spots on the panel explain every part of the formula, from serving size to the dagger statement.

- Serving
Serving Size: 1 ml. Servings Per Container: 60.
- Chromium, 0.7 mcg
The only printed amount: 2% of the 35 mcg Daily Value.
- Blend total
200 mg shared by 22 ingredients, listed from most to least by weight.
- Maca first
Maca is listed first, so it is the largest share. Each later line can hold at most 200/k mg.
- Amino acids
Eight amino acids sit in the bottom half of the list, the smallest shares.
- DV note
'Daily Value (DV) not established' for the blend.
- Other ingredients
Deionized water, organic citrus extract, natural flavors, stevia and xylitol. Xylitol is dangerous to dogs.

What does the formula not tell you?
It does not tell you the amount of any blend ingredient, the caffeine total, the maker or the results. The maker is also unnamed, which we cover in another post, along with who sells the drops.
It also does not prove the formula works. No trial has tested it, so judge it by the label and by the habits that have evidence.
Chromium and some herbs may add to diabetes drugs and cause lows. Ask your pharmacist before you add the formula.
FAQ01
The Sugar Defender formula: quick questions
What is the first ingredient in the Sugar Defender formula?
Maca root leads the herbal blend, so it holds the largest share by weight. With the blend at 200 mg, maca could hold at most 200 mg per mL. The real amount is hidden.
Is the Sugar Defender formula a proprietary blend?
Yes. The label calls its 22-ingredient mix a Proprietary Herbal Blend of 200 mg. Rules let a blend show only its total and the order of its parts, not each amount.
How much chromium is in the Sugar Defender formula?
0.7 mcg per 1 mL serving, as chromium picolinate, or 2% of the Daily Value. Studies of chromium and glucose used 200 to 1,000 mcg a day.
Does the Sugar Defender formula contain caffeine?
Guarana seed and green tea leaf both carry caffeine. The label prints no amount, so the total is unknown. Light sleepers and anyone on stimulants should ask a clinician first.
